Testicular cancer is more common in younger and middle-aged men than it is in older men. One risk factor for testicular cancer is having undescended testicle , when one or both testicles have not moved down into the scrotum. Testicular tumors may contain both seminoma and nonseminoma cells. Testicular cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the testicles, a part of the male reproductive system. In the United States, about 8,000 to 9,000 diagnoses of testicular cancer are made each year.

Testicular cancer is an abnormal, uncontrolled growth of cells that forms a tumor on one or both testes. Men have two testicles (testes, gonads) that are located in the scrotum, a pouch of loose skin found below and at the base of the penis. Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in young men ages 15 to 35. It accounts for about 1 percent of all cancer in men, with approximately 7,400 cases diagnosed in the United States every year. Testicular cancer is one of the most common cancers in young men between the ages of 15 and 35, but the disease also occurs in other age groups, so all men should be aware of its symptoms. While testicular cancer is common among young men, young men typically do not develop any kind of cancer, so overall, testicular cancer is a relatively rare disease.

Treatment of testicular cancer is one of the major success stories of modern medicine. What was once a deadly cancer 30 years ago is now one of the most curable types of human solid cancers. Treatments may also cause infertility . Treatment is extremely effective especially when the cancer is treated early. Your health care provider may run more tests to determine which treatments are right for you.

Treatment also depends on the stage of the cancer, the patient's age and general health, and other factors. Treatment is often provided by a team of specialists, which may include a surgeon, a medical oncologist , and a radiation oncologist .
