Swine flu viruses are not transmitted by food. You cannot get swine flu from eating pork or pork products. Swine flu is an infection caused by a virus. It's named for a virus that pigs can get. Swine flu is an influenza A type, so those with influenza B are unlikely to be infected with that strain. However, not everyone with influenza A has the H1N1 virus which causes swine flu.
Swine flu is proving serious in children; the hospitalisation rate of under-fives is four times that of adults. Swine flu if it mutates to something equivalent to the Spanish flu of 1918/1919 (Spanish flu was a swine flu variant) has the same potential to kill humans on an unprecidented scale as it did 90 years ago. The problem is that both swine and avian are constantly mutating into something different. Swine flu (swine influenza) is a type of influenza (flu) that usually affects pigs. It can also be transmitted to humans, and from human to human.
Swine Flu Defence consists of only the finest herbal extracts and will also neutralize various other viruses. Many independent studies show that Swine Flu Defense acts as powerful immune booster that increases antiviral action against influenza A (H1N1), & B, bird (avian) flu, herpes, swine flu and even HIV. Swine flu is creating a virtual Mexico.
Influenza viruses change very quickly. It is important to develop a vaccine against the currently circulating virus strain for it to provide maximum protection to the vaccinated people. Influenza viruses are small RNA viruses that infect many mammals, including humans, birds, and swine. Until 2009, swine influenza predominately affected swine and was not transmitted often or easily to people.
Vaccine makers have found, however, that the viral strains are generating only 25-50% of normal yields, Kieny said. Although there is enough antigen for clinical testing, WHO's lab network is hunting for more productive strains. Vaccines would perhaps be produced if it appeared that some new virus was potentially harmful in one way or another. Of course, there are no credits for epidemics that never happen and stockpiling vaccines for potential disasters cost taxpayers money.
Children with asthma and pregnant women are also likely high-priority groups, as are critical emergency-response workers. Children have been greatly impacted by this outbreak, and need to know how to properly wash their hands to prevent the spread of germs. The Scrub Club Web site (www.scrubclub.org ) is an easy, online tool to teach kids how to wash their hands and why it's important. Children who've never had a flu shot need two flu vaccinations, weeks apart, to be immunized.
