Sweating Sweating is controlled from a center in the preoptic and anterior regions of the hypothalamus where thermosensitive neurons are located. The heat regulatory function of the hypothalamus is also affected by inputs from temperature receptors in the skin . Sweating and cooling - Sweating is required for body cooling. The body contains approximately 2,700 square inches skin on which to sweat. Sweating also does an important job - it helps to cool your body down when you are hot. Sweating, in and of itself, is not a risk factor for SIDS and does not predict which baby will die from SIDS. Sweating happens naturally when your body needs to cool down. If you're overheated, your sweat glands release a salty fluid. Sweating is increased by nervousness and nausea and decreased by cold. Animals with few sweat glands, such as dogs , accomplish similar temperature regulation results by panting, which evaporates water from the moist lining of the oral cavity and pharynx . Sweating is an essential and normal body function, our natural air-conditioning system. Evaporation of sweat helps keep our bodies cool and regulates body temperature. Sweating is a natural phaenomenon necessary for the regulation of an individual's body-temperature. The secretion of sweat is mediated by a portion of our vegetative nervous system (the Sympathetic Nervous System ). Sweating in hands or underarms is a worst problem that most of people have. It has to be treated at an early stage to avoid problems in the future. Sweating is one of the natural mechanisms for regulating body temperature and is the normal response to hot conditions or strenuous exercise. Some people naturally sweat more than others, so if you have always sweated profusely, there is unlikely to be anything wrong. Sweating, occurring in the underarms, palms and feet, on the face and back can be annoying and can cause a lot of discomfort as well. The most common amongst these is underarm sweating. Sweating is heavy perspiration that can happen at night or even when the room is cool. It can be heavy enough to soak a person's clothes.
