Summer internships are particularly useful because they provide students with a taste of an industry, an employer and a particular job role is really like. Even in the worst case scenario, a summer internship that you do not enjoy will not be detrimental to your studies or your future employment prospects in any way.

Internship placements are available in a variety of fields, including, but not limited to business, engineering, finance, tourism, IT, media/communications, international relations, the nonprofit sector, German studies and economics. Most internships are paid and scholarships are available to qualified participants that receive unpaid internships. Interns must have a car for transportation. In most cases, it is not possible to rent a car without incurring a surcharge if you are under the age of 25. Internships are unpaid positions; however, applicants may want to explore the Google Policy Fellowship .

Interns generally perform entry-level tasks while taking part in skills development activities as part of the internship experience. Some internships are paid, while others give you college credit. Interns here don't just make copies and fetch coffee. They also enjoy the same perks showered on Google employees--free gourmet meals, spa treatments and laundry services. Internships can end up costing you a lot of money. First, there's the opportunity cost of the time you could have spent making money.

Internships provide valuable employment development experience to participants and highly qualified intern support to DoD laboratories. Thus internships are waived only in very rare circumstances and are decided on a case-by-case basis. Internships are great for learning how to network, observe the workplace, and perform entry-level tasks.

Summer internships are generally confirmed no later than April 1st preceding the summer in which the internship will take place. CPP staff work with participating organizations to identify interested students, conduct interviews, and make other administrative arrangements. Summer internships are available in news, sports, photo, graphics, features, copy desk and online. Yearlong internships are typically in one of our eight local news bureaus covering breaking news, covering local government and writing features on a designated beat. Summer internships are especially competitive, and students interested in this internship should apply early. Students who have the option to intern during the school year are strongly encouraged to do so.

Summer internships are full-time, 40 hours per week minimum, and last 10-14 weeks. School-year internships are part-time, 16 hours per week minimum, and last 10-12 weeks. Summer internships are the most competitive, so fall or winter may be a good time to go if you can take a semester off. Summer internships are especially recommended (financial circumstances allowing). Of particular merit are long-standing organizations of recognizable standing in the profession (Williamstown, Utah-and other-Shakespeare Festivals, etc.; also the American Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and others.) Deadlines for these internships are usually in January or February before the summer in question.

Summer internships are the most common, and if that is all you can get, take it. However, you should be aware of some of the limitations of summer internships.
