Alternative medicine should be a complementary medicine in some cases and the main medicine in others. Strengthen your immune system, overcome body's deficiencies, increase efficiency and endurance of our organs with the natural resources, and use conventional medicine for and controlling the disease. Alternative medicine, on the other hand, is a fairly broad umbrella term which covers many different methods of treatment such as acupuncture, homeopathy, Chinese herbal medicine, and Ayurvedic. Alternative Medicine Review publishes literature reviews, original research, editorial comment, monographs, and book reviews on subjects interesting to, and clinically valuable for our customers. The feedback we receive from readers is consistently positive and appreciative.

Alternative medicine describes practices used in place of conventional medical treatments. Complementary medicine describes practices used in conjunction and cooperation with conventional medicine. Alternative medicine treatments are safe, natural and non-invasive ways to resolve problems, get to the cause of your health complaints and help restore vitality. Cleanses, homeopathy, herbal medicine , lifestyle counseling, vitamins, and body work are all used to create an individualized, safe treatment plan to enhance the body's capacity to heal itself. Alternative medicine means treatments that you use instead of standard ones. Complementary medicine means nonstandard treatments that you use along with standard ones.

Herbal medicine, for example, is complicated pharmacology with lots of interesting facets that one could teach in a scientific way. But I'm not aware of any course that's being taught in a scientific way. Herbal medicine is based on the theory of Yin and Yang where everything has an equal, for example for good there is bad, light there is dark. This theory correlates to the body in that elements in the body are out of harmony and body may lack vitality. Herbs and vitamins will bring your body back into its own rhythm so you can function better.

American health insurance companies, unless you live in Washington state, avoid almost all holistic health and alternative medical practices. This isn't because insurance companies are bad people, it's just because it will take time for them to recognize the financial benefits of keeping people healthy and using safe, effective, cheap remedies like St. American medicine, replete with a robust doctor-patient relationship, right out in the open. Simply declare this kind of practice to be a new variety of alternative medicine. American drug companies dictate which drugs will be sold to physicians based on the marketing efforts of new drugs being introduced in the medical marketplace. The exploitation seen in American pharmacology is not apparent in Europe and Australia because the profit margin enjoyed by American drug manufacturers does not exist.

Therapies like hypnosis and visualization claims to be able to change physical conditions through purely mental interventions. They believe that our bodies are remarkably resilient machines, capable, with some occasional prodding or intervention, of healing themselves. Therapies that saw the greatest increase in usage include herbal medicine, massage, megavitamins, self-help groups, folk remedies, energy healing, and homeopathy. The latter involves administration of minute doses of substances that would produce symptoms similar to that disease in healthy people, for example treating diarrhea with a tiny amount of laxative.

Studies show that better long term results were achieved with complimentary medicine on advanced stages of cancer, while alternative medicine seemed to help early stage cancers. The study is called CAM, (complimentary alternative medicine) and statistics show that 36% of adults with various stages of cancer use both therapies. Studies indicate that alternative approaches are often used in conjunction with conventional medicine. This is referred to by NCCAM as integrative (or integrated) medicine because it "combines treatments from conventional medicine and CAM for which there is some high-quality evidence of safety and effectiveness.
