Internet Explorer (13 Aug 2009)
Internet Explorer is not as good as more modern browsers at obtaining characters from several fonts. For example, if you have Arial as your preferred font for Latin, IE sees that Arial also contains some Greek characters and then tries to use it for classical Greek, even though Arial does not contain the polytonic characters. Internet Explorer first began to support webpage scripting in version 3, two years before DOM Level 1 became a W3C standard in October 1998. Version 4 added more features, still before there was a standard. Internet Explorer will always load the CSS file, no matter with which mimetype it is served. Web pages are considered in strict standards mode when they start with a strict doctype.

Is blogging the best medium? (21 Aug 2009)
Blogging is new enough that its borders - national, linguistic, substantive, formal, etc. To assume the same contextual frames for blogging that are invoked by US journalism seems reductive. Blogging is simply too big, too impersonal, and lacks the intimacy that drew me to it. Blogging is a tool one of many that can help journalists and writers of all types connect with readers, communicate information and help people make sense of our increasingly complicated world. Blogging won't solve everything, and in five, 10 or 20 years or sooner, something may replace it.

Is CSS a language? (06 Aug 2009)
CSS is user friendly and was purposely designed to be very readable and writable. The terminology of CSS is lifted from the terminology of desktop publishing. CSS is not easy. The learning curve is steep, and not well mapped. CSS is a crucial part of universal design. One page accomodates everyone: people with desktop PCs with modern web browsers, people on older PCs with older web browsers, people using WebTV, people using text-only browsers, people printing your web page, people with Braille readers, people with speech synthesizers.

Is Gmail right for you? (07 Aug 2009)
Gmail invites millions of people to move their personal discussions to a common pool and to leave large amounts online. I claim that Gmail will cause the largest migration of personal information in the history of the world. Gmail was launched on April 1, 2004, and has revolutionized the way many of us use email. The interface has remained largely untouched since it launched, but get ready, it's soon to undergo a change in what they describe as a "New Version" . GMail is a very nice product, with great promise. They've done a lot of work on building a superior web e-mail interface.

Is google on top? (20 Aug 2009)
Google is run by three computer scientists, and Google is an innovator in technology in our space. We're in the advertising business. Google is "librarying" complete copies, but is not selling them or displaying them in competition with the book copyright holder. Google's complete copies are (probably) commercial, but that's not dispositive as to the fair use inquiry for this first step. Google is widely respected (because they are a very healthy company, with healthy practices and relatively open). But they don't have an open development method, so they won't gain traction among our minds.

Is Social media killing other mediums? (20 Aug 2009)
Social media isn't killing traditional media. Traditional media has been killing itself for 30 years. Social media is expensive. In fact, it's more expensive than traditional media. Social media is another venue for networking and networking is conversation. And, conversation is the biggest component missing from today's business environment.

Is Web design similar (in a very simplistic way) to traditional print publishing? (08 Aug 2009)
Web designers are constantly seeking visual inspiration. That's why many of us frequently change our desktop wallpapers. Web design companies offer a wide variety of options and styles. There are three general options when it comes to a business web design. Web design is similar (in a very simplistic way) to traditional print publishing. Every website is an information display container, just as a book is a container; and every web page is like the page in a book.

Is windows vista the king of all time?? (01 Aug 2009)
Windows Vista includes a feature called "ReadyBoost" that can be used with some flash-based USB drives. If are experiencing video playback issues with iTunes in Windows Vista, disconnecting ReadyBoost-enabled flash drives may improve video playback performance. Windows Vista and Windows 7 have both made the task of directly editing the BCDedit file complicated as it is no longer text based as the boot.ini file was, and VistaBootPRO is here to help. Users can make changes to the Windows Boot Configuration Data (BCD) registry quickly and easily, doing the job in a fraction of the time it would take using the alternative DOS based command lines. Windows vista has quick power button to put the computer into sleep mode. But most user don't use sleep mode.

Java is not Javascript. (06 Aug 2009)
Javascript can interact with HTML source code , enabling Web authors to spice up their sites with dynamic content. JavaScript is endorsed by a number of software companies and is an open language that anyone can use without purchasing a license . Java is a lot more powerful, more complex. Java belongs in the same category of languages as C, C++, and other very complex languages.

JavaScript is a scripting language (06 Aug 2009)
JavaScript is now developed enough to offer cross-browser, cross-platform solutions from the same codebase, and this has made it viable to develop large scale applications using it. Given that there is a difference between webpages and applications , and that they have different goals and requirements, it is meaningless to point out that a JavaScript application fails when you disable JavaScript. JavaScript is used in millions of Web pages to improve the design, validate forms, detect browsers, create cookies, and much more. It is the most popular scripting language on the internet, and works in all major browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, and Opera. JavaScript is an untyped language, which means that variables do not need to have a type specified. Objects in JavaScript are more like Perl's associative arrays than they are like structures in C or objects in C++ or Java.

Microsoft (13 Aug 2009)
Microsoft's bread and butter is the whole desktop concept. Microsoft isn't going to purposefully break websites. People wishing this would happen just sound crazy, and make us look crazy, and generally hurt the push for a standards based development. Microsoft claims that there have been some conflicts between IE 7 installations and some antivirus engines, so to err on the safe side, the software giant asks that you disable your antivirus protection until the installation is complete. Microsoft uses its own malicious-software removal tool during the installation of IE 7, and it is perhaps this tool that conflicts with some antivirus apps.

Microsoft (13 Aug 2009)
Microsoft tests the hell out of Microsoft Office before shipping any software that interacts with it in any way. Microsoft says it is investigating a similar concept , using a subset of Windows to run browsers and so on before the whole OS loads. As more apps are browser-delivered, people may find they can get by without the full OS. Microsoft still makes mostly PC-compatible software, while Apple build things for their own hardware.

MySpace (20 Aug 2009)
MySpace is the closest humanity has ever come to a central community or a central consciousness. MySpace'ers are the largest and most distributed network of human nodes ever created and sustained for more than a few days (tests on human networks of up to 10M people have been tried, but they ultimately fall apart, often faster than they can be created). Myspace is simply a waste of time for anyone who comes across it - internet trash for lowest forms of human trash. The site barely works and is managed in a very unprofessional manner. MySpace is an online community that lets you meet your friends' friends. Create a community on MySpace and you can share photos, journals and interests with your growing network of mutual friends!

MySpace layouts are not to be overlooked in any way. MySpace Layouts are pages that are designed so that the information you choose to be seen, is easily accessed by people who you choose to see it.

Mysql and how it works. (06 Aug 2009)
Mysql can construct queries that can join tables from different databases. Supports both left and right outer joins using both ANSI and ODBC syntax. MySQL is an SQL based relational database management system (DBMS) that runs under a broad array of operating systems. The SQL commands discussed in this tutorial apply to MySQL operating under all operating systems. MySQL provides some tools to monitor and troubleshoot a MySQL server, but they don't always suit a MySQL developer or administrator's common needs, or may not work in some scenarios, such as remote or over-the-web monitoring. Fortunately, the MySQL community has created a variety of free tools to fill the gaps.
